Ma Wan: Art Island: Tracing the Past – Embarking on a New Journey of History and Art
· "Recognizing Past Ma Wan": Held at House 20, the exhibition revisits the history and transformation of Ma Wan Fishing Village through old photographs and stories from villagers.
· "Ma Wan Island Cruise" - A 40-minute boat trip through a century of history, allowing visitors to get up close and personal with landmarks such as Kap Shui Mun Bridge, Tsing Ma Bridge, and Tamsui Bay. A guide will share Ma Wan's maritime trade stories and historical architecture.
· "Ma Wan Heritage, Ancient Trees, and Art Walk" - A one-hour walking tour exploring the park's precious monuments and murals, showcasing the intersection of history and modern creativity.

The new "Ma Wan · Art Island Exploration" program highlights the life of the old fishing village, artwork, and exhibitions, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in Ma Wan's history and creative atmosphere. Highlights include the "Recognizing Ma Wan" exhibition, which recreates the daily life of the former fishing village through historical photographs and villagers' stories. The park also features large-scale murals and creative installations by various artists, blending fishing village culture with contemporary art to create a journey of discovery filled with surprises. With the launch of more activities and artworks, "Ma Wan 1868" is becoming an ideal place for the fusion of culture and art, offering visitors a refreshing and in-depth experience.
1. "Recognizing Ma Wan" Exhibition
Ma Wan, old and new, connects people and stories. Starting August 8th, the "Recognizing Ma Wan" exhibition will be held at House 20 within the park. Through photos and videos of Ma Wan, both old and new, the exhibition will explore memories of Ma Wan's former fishing village. Mangrove wetlands, stilt houses, shrimp paste drying, and residential boats—everyday fishing village life is brought to life, while exploring its new appearance after conservation efforts. The exhibition will also feature stories of various artists working in Ma Wan, such as muralist Bao's "Fragrant City Melody" and Noble's "Daily Life in Ma Wan Fishing Village." Visitors can learn about their unique feelings and artistic concepts about Ma Wan.
1. "Ma Wan Island Hop-On Hop-Off Tour" Sea Tour
The tour lasts approximately 40 minutes and departs from the Ma Wan 1868 Public Pier at 12:15 PM and 2:30 PM on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. The tour crosses Kap Shui Mun Bridge and explores the Lantern Island Lighthouse, the Treasure House, the Kowloon Gate Stone Monument, the Tsing Ma Bridge, Tamsui Bay, and the Shek Tsai Wan Fish Rafts. Along the way, Tsui Wah Tours' guides will explain the history of Ma Wan from its small fishing village to the present day. Guests can also get up close to the majestic Kap Shui Mun and Tsing Ma Bridges and learn about Hong Kong's significant infrastructure developments.
2. "Ma Wan Heritage and Trees Tour and Art Walk" Land Tour
The tour lasts approximately one hour and takes participants through the precious monuments and ancient trees of "Ma Wan 1868," exploring the history and natural beauty of this area. The guided tour will visit several historically significant sites, including the Kowloon Pass stone tablet inscribed with the inscription "Seven Feet of Land Borrowed at Kowloon Pass," as well as other ancient monuments and trees that bear witness to Ma Wan's century-long story. This will allow participants to gain a deeper understanding of the significant historical background of this small fishing village and the stories behind the island's murals.
3. "Ma Wan: Island Art" Booklet
Starting from August 8th, a booklet showcasing the current artworks at "Ma Wan 1868," including murals, stone paintings, and sculptures, will be displayed in Houses 20 and 52. A limited-edition transparent art card featuring the village's distinctive motif will also be included, making it a perfect photo-taking tool and a unique souvenir of your "Ma Wan 1868" art journey. Bonus: "La Guaymán: A Remarkable Country" Photography Exhibition
Located in the New Building Exhibition Hall (Room 52) near Tin Hau Temple Square at Ma Wan 1868, the exhibition regularly curates works by renowned artists from around the world. Following the renowned Hong Kong mural "Cat with Cheeks on His Cheek," starting mid-August, the exhibition will feature photographs by renowned La Guaymán photographer Marcelo Catanido. Through his photographs, Catani presents a stark perspective on the world, finding beauty in the simplest of things, allowing the world to understand the people of La Guaymán.

"Tse Sai Pei"
Located at 55 Ma Wan Main Street, the renowned artist "Tse Sai Pei" boasts a shop filled with unique art illustrations. The shop sells cultural and creative products designed by the illustrator, including embroidered canvas bags, personalized printed T-shirts, hipster-style phone cases, healing stuffed animals, and other exquisite merchandise, making it a must-see for fans. Falling in love with Ma Wan at first sight, Giselle moved there and opened a small shop, even letting her cat, "Xi Li," become the shop manager, interacting with visitors.
The shop sells a variety of cat-themed items, including adorable cat figures and interactive "Maneki Neko Painting Workshops," making it a popular choice among cat lovers and fans of all ages. The shop's regular hands-on workshops were so well-received by a primary school principal that they commissioned a large-scale workshop for 80 students. Giselle also designed a mural for "Ma Wan 1868," incorporating her personal story and showcasing the cultural and artistic charm of Ma Wan.
Kairos
Renowned mural artist ArYu collaborated with several artists associated with the area, including Kairos, the owner of the unique T-shirt shop. Kairos leveraged digital printing technology to transform the mural "Fish Running on the Waves" in House 25 into personalized T-shirts and other merchandise, achieving innovative industrialization of the artwork and injecting further vitality into the creative park.
Several coastal eateries have joined the folds, offering a visual and culinary experience of the tidal landscape of the mangroves, interwoven with the light of the bridge day and night.
"Ma Wan 1868" boasts captivating coastal scenery, where the mangroves and Tsing Ma Bridge complement each other beautifully. At high tide, the water reflects the shadows of the trees and bridge, while at low tide, fiddler crabs swim, allowing one to experience the rhythm of the tides. Ma Wan 1868 boasts a comprehensive network of land and sea transportation, making it easily accessible from the city. Visitors can leisurely arrive by boat from Central and Tsuen Wan. In addition, numerous bus routes connect directly to various MTR stations, providing convenient access to Tsing Yi, Tsuen Wan, Tsuen Wan West, Kwai Fong, the airport, Central, and Kowloon Stations. On weekends, pet-friendly buses run directly to Ma Wan, allowing you to enjoy a relaxing and relaxing stay.
Ferry Schedules
Take a ferry from Central, exiting Hong Kong Station Exit F, and walk to Central Pier 2 to reach Park Island, Ma Wan's largest private housing estate. Ferry services depart approximately every half hour to an hour on weekdays, and every hour on weekends and public holidays, departing at 30 minutes per hour.
